How can you say ‘no’?
By Heather Platts BA(Hons) | Updated September 23, 2007
If you have read something of what we at Cumulo Accountancy and Taxation stand for - its diffiuclt to know how you could possibly resist us! But its a sad fact that some people choose not to talk to us - here are what we think might be the top 10 reasons and our reply…
- The Office is in Uppingham. We chose the office because we liked it and we liked Uppingham. We also felt that it was was perfectly located to reach around the Welland Valley, Rutland and Leicestershire - however, part of our client charter is that we will always come to you if you prefer. So don’t worry about location - great though we think it is, we’re happy to do the travelling.
- It must be expensive. Its probably true that we are not in the bargain basement of accountancy practices - however, that shouldn’t mean you should wince at our price list either. We offer genuine value for money to our clients - giving an honest charge for our services whilst offering added value in terms of the extra benefits we offer as part of a service standard (please see our client charter).
- We are just a ’start up’ Its a sad fact that about 56% of start up businesses will fail within the first year of trading - and dismal though that fact is, the prospects for the remaining 44% are quite stark - certainly for the first 5 years. Its easy to get caught up in the enthusiasm of a new venture - and leave the harsh financial realities to the Fates. To have a trusted financial advisor as part of your team right from the get go could mean the difference between success and failure - further, an accountant is there not to penalise you and your successes - it may be useful just to have spoken with us for that first inital hour for free - and have a planned approach to tax and accountants fees for the future.
- All Accountants are the same. It is a lasting perception that people seem to have of Accountants and their services. Unfortunately, it is an image that stops business people from looking at exactly what services are being offered. The Accountant which is the nearest or the cheapest isn’t necessarily the very best - and it certainly pays to have a good look at what options are available. We’re more than happy for prospective clients to check out the competition - put our service standards to the test.
- I already have an Accountant. Changing Accountants is really easy and shouldn’t present you with too much of an issue - of course they may have become a friend to you over the years and its understandable that you might feel uncomfortable making the move. However, as a business person there are few things that should be done on the basis of sentiment, especially something as vital as your financial wellbeing. Call or email us and we can talk to you and advise you on the way forward. It may be also worth mentioning that Cumulo can work alongside your existing firm of Accountants - by providing ad-hoc business consultancy which would not upset your present relationship.
- The Accounts have just been finished. Its vital to take advantage of strategic tax planning for the year ahead - timely advice based on considered facts instead of reacting to an unplanned crisis, is the best course of action for your business and the sooner it can be started the better.
- I’m sceptical. Right from the outset, we have wanted to differentiate our practice from the ‘also-rans’; that means we are committed to making a real difference to our clients and back this committment up with a guarantee - that if we do not fulfil your expectations and leave you 100% happy with our service, we will give you a full refund.
- I’m too busy. We perfectly understand this. However if you are presently unhappy with your advisor - we would be happy to call at your convenience, whenever that might be - in order to discuss your needs - leave you with a portfolio of services which you can peruse at leisure. We can only offer the suggestion that the time you invest in talking to us, would be amply rewarded in the long run.
- I don’t run a business. Thats perfectly fine - personal financial advice and tax planning is something we can help any individual with - contact us and we’ll have a chat.
- Anything we have forgotten? Let us know
